Went shopping with DH on the 3rd - he zoned out, what else did I expect? At least he didn't complain much.

1 sm. Tomato Bisque soup - on sale for $3.99 (to shut up hubby)

There were more things I wanted to get there but he was already getting antsy. I DID do the Starbucks Challenge. I picked the brewed one - it was the stronger of the two, but if the price was right on the instant, I MIGHT consider it. I wonder if they will come out with coupons? DH said he couldn't tell. Got 2 samples though.

KMart (Wanted to see if they were doubling. Since the service desk, as usual, had no clue I decided to try)

1 Celestial Seasonings tea $2.49 less $1 coupon = $1.49 but it was Tension Tamer - wonder if it will work on DH?
5 boxes Barilla Mini Picolli @ 3/$4 or $1.34 less 5 (50 cent coupons doubled)= 34 cents each
15 bottles Suave Body Wash $1.99 used 1 Buy 2 G1 F, and 2 (50 cent coupons, doubled) 29.85- 9.95 = 19.90 - $10= 9.90 or 66 cents each.
1 Crunch & Munch 2/$4= $2 - .35 coupon doubled = $1.30
1 thermawrap 6.99 less $2 coupon = 4.99 (however found them B1 6.99/g 1 50% off so 2 would be $10.49-2 $2 coupons= 6.49 instead of 9.98 at RiteAid)
1 Little Debbie cupcake 12 pk. $2 - .75 coupon doubled= 50 cents
4 packs of Friskies Natural cat treats for free

Acme has a deal on Nabisco crackers - Buy 4 and get them for $1.75 each. There is a $3 coupon near the products for the deal. I was bummed that I already used the 2 Buy 1 Ritz get 1 Crackerfuls free coupons. I do need to double check before the 10th to see if there are ANY others around. Would be a great time to use them. $3 for 4 boxes of crackers would be great! 75 cents each!

I missed the green Mountain K-Cups @ $5.99 each. I have $1.50 coupons so that would be $4.49 each.

Later that night, I went to WalMart with mom looking for that Elusive Hungry Hungry Hippos travel game and the Huggies pull ups for $1.64. I can't ever find a scanner when I need one. I did get 4 boxes of Coffee Mate sticks for $1.96 (.98 each, 2 B1G1F coupons) or .49 each. Found a $1 4 pack of off brand yogurt.

Not a bad shopping day.

Backpacks and Veterans

My daughter came home from work a week or so ago and gave me a business card. "This guy is collecting everything he can get to fill backpacks for homeless Vets. You can send some of your USO stuff here."

Already, I support the USO with candy, cookies and whatever I come up with cheap - unfortunately, sometimes too much stuff.

Then I take the overflow to The Shepherd's Place which is a homeless shelter - I had tried to donate a bunch of food to the food bank but was told that the only place that accepted food was 40 minutes away. But they would be glad to take a financial contribution. I'm sure. Shepherd's Place gratefully took my donation and told me anything else I had they would welcome.

Another place I support is the ASPCA - I use my coupons to get free and cheap animal food, treats, and toys. I also save my newspapers to donate. Occasionally, I go through my closets and find towels, sheets, and blankets that I can take over there. They also welcome any sort of office supply or animal item.

Now, I have the Homeless Vets. They have literally nothing. I was told that they would take anything I could give. If it was not something they could use directly, they would see that a Vet who could use it would get it as they have contact with Vets in Home of the Brave (the Veteran's home) and who are living alone or with others but barely scraping by.

Today, I bought 2 backpacks for under $5 each, and will fill them up with whatever I can to be donated to the Homeless Vets - they can take the goodies out of the backpacks and then use the backpacks too.

I love this hobby!

Pretty Sweet!

Have you tried Kellogg's Cinnabon bars? They are pretty sweet, but they are good. Right now, Acme (Albertsons) has them $1.50 each when you buy 10. But... There are 75 cent coupons out. Since Acme doubles 75 cent coupons to $1.50 ... you catch my drift?

I still have a bunch of boxes left over from the last Buy 10 sale which netted me 10 boxes for 17 cents each, down from the first sale & coupon price of 28 cents each. But free is good. Now that I really have something to do with all these free and cheap goodies, I'll do a bunch of them!

Photo stamps

I went to Happy Harry (Walgreens) on State Street and bought 3 packs of photostamps. They were on sale at $14.99. However, when I went to Happy Harry's on Forrest Ave, they had them $7.19 each. I bought 6 and it was a dollar cheaper for me to buy 6 at Forest Ave, than it was for me to buy 3 at State Street. I'll go back, and if the manager will mark those 3 down to 7.19, I'll keep them. If not, then back they go.

You upload a picture and it makes 20 stamps. at .44 cents a piece, it's 8.80 for 20 stamps, so at 7.19 it makes them .36 each - and it will have a picture on it! I hope they will last until Jeff Jr. is born. We can put Jeff Jr's pic on it and use them to mail out his birth announcements! At 14.99, it's 75 cents a stamp.

July 31 sale at Acme

Poptarts are on sale at ACME. With them 5/$5, and 2 $1/2 coupons, they are 5/$3 or 60 cents each. The Cinnabon thingies are 1.67 wyb 5 so with 5 75c coupons, they will be $8.35 - 7.50 = $.85 for 5 or .17 each. (75 cent coupons will double) So when you add poptarts and Cinnabon together, they will be .85 + $3=$3.85 for 5 boxes of poptarts, and 5 boxes of cinnabon. Kelloggs then has a $10 rebate= $6.15 profit, and to boxes of junk food to eat or give away.

Not bad!

On another note: Mark lost one of my envelopes of coupons. He's acting like it's a major issue to find out where he put them. If he hadn't moved them to start with, there wouldn't be a problem. Men! You can't live with them, and you can't shoot them... or can you?

I love cat food coupons

I just left 5 bags of kitten chow dry kitten food and some cans of Mighty Dog at the ASPCA/Rescue adoption at Petsmart. I love it that these coupons come out! I paid nothing for all these boxes of cat food and cans of dog food, and it will help so many people and animals.

This is one of the good coupon shopping trips I had. My total before coupons was about $70. After coupons was about $10. All of this will be headed to the food bank soon.

(update - this food went to Shepherd's Place, a homeless shelter, after the food back told me that the closest place to donate food was 40 minutes away in another town. And they wonder why they don't get donations. Oh, and they said they would be glad to take my financial contribution. Right.)

Hi there! Just a little about moi. I've been using coupons for over 30 years now! I use them to lower the cost of my own groceries and things, but I also use coupons to allow me to make donations to different organizations:

USO - I donate packs of gum, individual packages of snacks, coffee, drink sticks (powder to put in water bottles), small and trial sized HBA for inclusion in Ditty Bags handed out to transient military personnel, and whatever else they maybe able to use.

ASPCA - I donate cat and dog food (dry and wet), litter, cat and dog treats, toys, old (or purchased cheaply) linens for bedding and bath, office supplies, and my old newspapers. I also help with anything else they need, as I find it.

Food bank - I purchase non-perishables for donation to whatever food bank I choose to deliver the goods to.

I also donate school supplies to the University for use in the library and anything else I get that I can figure out where to donate it!
